Bio

Dan Barlage is the Head Coach at Norco High School, a role he has led since 2023. With over 25 years of coaching experience across the high school and collegiate levels, Coach Barlage brings a wealth of knowledge, leadership, and championship-level success to the Cougars program.
A former collegiate player, Barlage played football at Northern Michigan University from 1990 to 1993. He began his coaching career as an assistant at Wayne State University (1994–1996), before moving into high school coaching at Valley View High School. He served as an assistant from 1997 to 1999 and was later named head coach from 2000 to 2006, where he led the team to the 2001 CIF Finals and was named LA Times Coach of the Year.
Following that, he contributed to the success of Riverside City College as an assistant coach from 2007 to 2014. He returned to Valley View as head coach from 2015 to 2020, capturing a CIF Championship, a Southern California Championship, and reaching the State Final in 2016. A year in which he was also named Division Coach of the Year. He then returned to RCC for the 2021 and 2022 seasons before taking the helm at Norco.
Coach Barlage has mentored numerous athletes who advanced to play at the collegiate and professional levels, including Dominic Johnson, Mustafa Johnson, Mike Tuohy, Jacob Barlage, and Jake Seydel.
Barlage earned his Bachelor of Arts in History with a minor in English, and later earned his Master’s degree in Physical Education. His academic journey took him through Northern Michigan University, Wayne State University, and Azusa Pacific University.
A native of Belleville, Michigan, Dan is married to Jennifer, and they have two children: Jacob and Caylie.
